Director Statement
The whole team, from actors to crew, remained committed to finishing an adventure now filled with even greater symbolism. This film offers a realistic vision of working-class neighborhoods, with their share of shadows but, above all, their brightness. It presents a refreshing perspective, avoiding the clichés often seen in “banlieue films,” which too frequently lack depth and fail to elevate the conversation.
More than just an “author’s film,” it’s a film with perspective!
About the Directors.
Charly Ongolo and Michel Nogara are French filmmakers who have worked together across writing, directing and production, developing their careers through independent short-form cinema before making their feature-film debut. Their collaboration dates back at least to Le Jour du Dragon (2013), a short comedy co-directed by Nogara and Ronan Nouri and co-written by Ongolo, which won the Jury Prize at Grenoble's 3ème Scène Cinématographique. They subsequently collaborated on Adieu (2020), written by Ongolo, before joining forces as co-writers and co-directors of Repose en paix, si tu peux (2026), their comedy-drama starring Waly Dia, Samia Orosemane and Medi Sadoun.
